Government clouds vs. Commercial clouds

The idea of a government cloud (GovCloud) was introduced in 2013, following the introduction of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), which sought to standardize security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services throughout the U.S. government. Additionally, to meet new CMMC security requirements, many cloud providers built separate environments to run government workloads.
